Things best left forgotten

Day in, day out we rely on our memory to guide us through:

Red light stop, green light go. Names, numbers, turn right, meeting for dinner tonight. Up the stairs, down the street, dark coffee with half a sweet.
All those memories that move me through each day.

You wonder, how does it all fit? Sometimes memory seems so finite, how could I possibly remember another password?

"I'm sorry, I had to memorize too many passwords and now I don't remember my own name"

An old song plays and 30 years fade away. I'm a time traveler in my own head. It's a sunny day and the wind is in my long hair. Bike tires howling. Smell of hot pavement. More old songs, more old memories. Laughter, tears.. ahh life can be bittersweet.

What if all old things were banished from your life? Photos, songs, smells - would you lose the memories associated with them? Or would the old things still come back in your dreams?

Some days I only wish I could remember, and some days I only wish I could forget.
